Welcome to our January edition of the Changing Futures newsletter, our first one for 2026. We start this year feeling positive about the future as we start to focus on our delivery plan for the years ahead.

We were delighted to see the Government publish their national strategy on tackling homelessness which puts severe and multiple disadvantage (SMD) firmly on the agenda as a key priority.

National plans recognise that people who face a combination of homelessness, mental ill‑health, substance use, trauma and contact with the criminal justice system often need joined up, relational support to help address their needs in the round.

As you know, this is exactly what Changing Futures Nottingham is all about, and we’re very proud of our work that brings partners and people with lived experience together to redesign how the system works for people who are most at risk.

This national focus on SMD gives fresh weight to what our local partnership has been championing for years: that you can only end homelessness by seeing people in the fullness of their situations and by working together to tackle multiple disadvantage together.

We’re excited about what our partnership can achieve in the years ahead.
